L-citrulline
L-citrulline can raise circulating arginine and support nitric-oxide production. Exercise findings differ across endurance, strength and recovery outcomes.
What it is
L-citrulline is an amino acid converted partly to arginine, which supports nitric-oxide synthesis. Citrulline malate combines citrulline with malate; products and studies may report the compound weight rather than pure citrulline.
What human research suggests
Meta-analyses report mixed endurance results and small improvements in some high-intensity repetition outcomes. Effects on soreness and perceived exertion vary. Evidence does not support a guaranteed pump, stamina or recovery response.
