NAD+
NAD+ is essential to cellular metabolism, but direct oral NAD+, NADH, nicotinamide riboside and nicotinamide mononucleotide are different interventions. Evidence cannot move freely between them.
What it is
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is a coenzyme used in energy metabolism and cellular reactions. NAD+ levels and metabolism change with age and health, but that biological importance does not show that swallowing NAD+ produces a clinical outcome.
What human research suggests
Human trials more commonly study precursors such as nicotinamide riboside or nicotinamide mononucleotide. Some raise NAD-related blood metabolites, but biomarker movement is not the same as improved energy, cognition or longevity. Direct oral NAD+ has a smaller human evidence base, and there is no basis for a lifespan claim.

Safety data depend on the exact NAD-related compound, amount and duration. Findings from NR or NMN cannot define the safety of direct oral NAD+. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have cancer, liver or kidney disease, or use regular medicines should ask a healthcare professional before using NAD-related supplements.
